How to Get to Imsouane from Agadir, Marrakech and Essaouira

Imsouane sits on the Atlantic coast between Agadir and Essaouira, about 15 minutes off the main coastal road. There is no airport or train station in the village, so most people arrive by private transfer, taxi, bus or rental car. Here are the main options and roughly how long each takes.

Quick overview

From Agadir airport

Agadir Al Massira is the closest airport and has direct flights from many European cities. The drive takes about two hours along the coast through Agadir and Taghazout. The easiest option is a private transfer: we can arrange one from the airport for €60 per car. Grand taxis also wait outside the terminal; agree the price before you leave.

From Agadir city or Taghazout

From Taghazout the drive is about an hour and a quarter. Our transfer from Taghazout costs €40. You can also take a grand taxi heading north towards Tamri and ask to continue to Imsouane, or a local bus to the Imsouane junction on the N1 and a short taxi ride down to the village.

From Marrakech

Marrakech has the most flight connections, but it is the furthest away. By car it is about four hours. Without a car, the simplest route is a bus from Marrakech to Essaouira (Supratours or CTM, about three hours), then a transfer or taxi to Imsouane. Some surf shuttle services also run from Marrakech to the coast; check their schedules in advance.

From Essaouira

Essaouira is about an hour and a half away by road. We offer a transfer from Essaouira for €55, or you can take a grand taxi or a southbound bus to the Imsouane junction.

Driving yourself

• Follow the N1 coastal road between Agadir and Essaouira and turn off at the signposted Imsouane junction.
• The road down to the village is paved but winding; take it slowly, especially after dark.
• Parking is available near the harbour and the beach.
• Fuel up in Tamanar or Tamri; there are few stations on the way.
